Indulgent No Bake Peanut Butter Fudge – The Perfect Valentine’s Day Treat

downtonabbeycooks · January 27, 2024 ·

With Valentine’s Day rapidly approaching, I’ve been thinking about easy, decadent treats that would make great edible gifts for loved ones. Nearly everyone enjoys Chocolate and peanut butter, a classic flavour combination, so I suggest you try my favourite no-fuss fudge. This fudge comes together in minutes, resulting in a rich, velvety confection that looks elegant but couldn’t be simpler.

I love that this peanut butter fudge recipe requires no cooking or candy thermometers. You melt chocolate and peanut butter together in the microwave or a double boiler, then pour into a lined pan to chill. Making fudge is notoriously finicky, but this no-bake version avoids all the trouble and uncertainty.

The two-tone fudge layering of dark chocolate on the bottom and white chocolate infused with peanut butter on top provides a blank canvas for your own creativity.  You could decorate the top with festive sprinkles and candies or leave it plain – part of the fun is customizing it to your liking!

When made in a 9-inch pan, this easy fudge recipe yields around 50 petite one-inch squares, which provides plenty to share. I like to individually wrap each piece in a paper candy cup or foil. This no-bake fudge boasts an ultra-rich, smooth texture similar to truffles. A little goes a long way with these concentrated chocolate flavours.

If you’re looking for a quick, impressive dessert to make for Valentine’s Day, give this easy no-bake peanut butter fudge a try. The combination of dark chocolate, white chocolate, and peanut butter is sheer perfection. Make a batch to gift to friends, teachers, and family – or hoard it all for yourself! With just a few ingredients, minimal prep, and no baking required, this may become your new go-to fudge recipe every February. It’s sure to impress your Valentine.

Instructions

Bottom Layer

  • Prepare a square pan by greasing slightly and lining with wax paper. When fudge has set this makes it easier to remove it from the pan by simply lifting out the wax paper. Alternatively use a silicon square pan.
  • Melt together the dark chocolate and condensed milk together. You can microwave but I use the stove.
Chocolate burns easily so use a double-boiler, or place a metal bowl on top of a pot of water heating on the stove. Pour into prepared pan and refrigerate until set (an hour or so).

Top Layer

  • Melt the white chocolate and peanut butter together on the stove in the same manner as the dark chocolate. Pour on top of the bottom layer.
  • Before you let the top layer set, decorate for the occasion. You can melt a little melted red chocolate and drizzle or pipe little hearts if you are a whiz at decoration.
You can also use red sprinkles, dragees, jimmies, or tiny little hearts. They will sink in a bit into the surface but will hold on tight when it sets. It will add an additional bit of texture to your treat. Refrigerate until set.

To Serve

  • Carefully remove the fudge from the pan. The fudge is very rich, so cut into 1 inch squares and present in little foil or paper cups used to serve truffles or chocolates. This recipe goes along way and will provide lots of gifts for family and friends.

Notes

You don't need to use quality chocolate for this dish. You can use the baking chips you would use for cookies. I use melting wafers,  used by candy makers and sold in craft stores that sell cake and chocolate making supplies. You can also buy dark and white wafers on Amazon and have them delivered right to your door.
