We often see cakes frosted with buttercream, but if you are looking for an alternative, try this rich ganache icing used by the Royal Family.
Very simple to make and produces a nice glossy result.
Royal Chocolate Ganache Icing
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. quality semisweet chocolate chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Prepare at least six hours before you will be using to allow to set.
- Put the chopped chocolate into a mixing bowl. In a separate saucepan, bring the heavy cream to a simmer. Pour the hot cream onto the chocolate, letting the chocolate melt. Whisk it until smooth and well incorporated.
